Recently, SEMCORP’s first 7-meter ultra-wide online coating production line was successfully commissioned and put into operation at its Chongqing production base after passing commissioning on the first attempt.

With this milestone, all 12 production lines at SEMCORP’s Chongqing base are now fully equipped with online coating capabilities, officially ushering in a new stage of intelligent mass production featuring end-to-end online coating.

Compared with conventional production lines with standard web widths, 7-meter ultra-wide production requires significantly higher levels of equipment adaptation precision and process compatibility. At the same time, one of the key quality-control challenges in lithium-ion battery separator manufacturing—metal foreign-matter control—becomes substantially more difficult under ultra-wide production conditions, with significantly more stringent control requirements and quality standards. This has long been a major technical challenge for the industry.

Faced with these demanding technical barriers, the production team at SEMCORP’s Chongqing base tackled multiple critical challenges in process commissioning, equipment adaptation and precision quality control.

Through systematic optimization and precise problem-solving, the team successfully brought the new production line into operation with high quality on its first commissioning attempt.
